The show must go on! This week on Broadway, lead actress Carrie Coon suffered from acute throat spasms just hours before opening night. Fortunately, there was an acupuncturist on staff at the ear, nose and throat clinic.
In Minnesota, decades of investment in integrative care have made acupuncture part of the medical mainstream.

PRESS
Tony nominee Carrie Coon suffered from acute throat spasms, threatening the Broadway opening night of Bug. OTC medicine failed to help, and test results from her otolaryngologist were clear. After treatment from the staff acupuncturist, “it went away at 5, an hour before curtain.”
Hennepin Healthcare was an early adopter, launching an acupuncture clinic in 1983, adding chiropractic care by 1999 and integrative physical therapy in the mid-2000s. Today, the organization runs a multisite program, with acupuncturists, chiropractors, and integrative health physical therapists spanning six clinic locations.
RESEARCH
Researchers found that traditional Chinese medicine may support cancer care by shaping the gut microbiota and strengthening immune response. The review suggests these effects can influence tumors beyond the digestive system, help reduce side effects from conventional treatments, and improve overall treatment response, offering a clear framework for understanding TCM as a whole body, immune supportive approach.
